Volunteer Opportunity: East Village Street Fair

Good day,
The East Village Neighbourhood Association is looking for some enthusiastic volunteers for their East Village Street Fair on Canada Day July 01, 2012. We are scouting for a volunteers from across the board including some experienced volunteers that could take on some senior leadership roles including the sustainability, security, information services and runners .
The East Village Street Fair will be happening in conjunction with many other Canada Day events and we anticipate a full and enthused crowd of artisans from baking to jewlery . Fort Calgary and the National Music Center are getting together to provide music and historic experiences as well as a vintage car show on the Fort Calgary grounds. The City of Calgary is having a bike and busker route set up along the Riverwalk and the CMLC is making the most of its Experience Center. We anticipate a crowd of 10,000 to shuffle through and we could use some good hands to show them a good time!

Security Team Leader
- Can lead a group of approx 12 volunteers
- Has the ability to delegate and instruct clearly
- Works well with a variety of people
- Is calm and aware of how to deal with tense situations and is able to dissolve conflicts.
- Is certified in First Aid.
- Has experience within a security role.
Information Services Team Leader
- Is capable of leading a team of 12 volunteers.
- Is well organized and well spoken
- Capable of giving accurate directions and teaching other to do the same
- Is friendly and personable (people are going to be talking to you all day!)
- Can deal with conflict in a calm manner
- Takes responsibility on themselves
Environment Team Leader
- Is capable of leading a team of 12 volunteers.
- Has a general understanding of recyclables and waste.
- The Environment Team leader will be in charge of ensuring that the recycling and waste receptacles are being used appropriately and placed at the appropriate pickup location.
- They will need to ensure that volunteers are properly supplied throughout the day

Youth Area Coordinator: ReggaeFest

The Calgary Reggae Festival Society requires a Youth Area Co-ordinator for its 2012 festival and beyond..... As part of the ReggaeFest 2012 volunteer committee you will meet with the team once a month. In between meetings programming of youth area activities will be necessary. The youth area runs from 12:00 noon until 7:00 pm during the Main Stage Event of ReggaeFest at Shaw Millennium Park. Age appropriate activities need to be planned (up to 16 years old). ReggaeFest is August 15 - 18 in 2012 and the Main Stage event is on August 18. This is a Volunteer position. Must be able to work from home.
Required Skills:
Computer skills - mainly E-mail and Internet, Personable Team player, Previous volunteer experience an asset

Position Description:
The Calgary Reggae Festival Society requires a Volunteer Co-ordinator for its 2012 festival and beyond..... Volunteer Opportunity: UAS Satellite Gallery Seeks Volunteers to Assist with Receptions

UAS (Untitled Art Society) is a not-for-profit, artist-run studio cooperative of Calgary artists. UAS's main exhibition space, Satellite Gallery hosts 1-2 opening receptions a month.
Our organization needs a number of volunteers to be greeters or bartenders (no experience necessary since we only serve wine/beer)
This is a really great way to get involved with a non-profit gallery, meet the exhibiting artists, board members, staff and all of our great supporters! Openings are always a ton of fun!
Applicants must be able to commit 2-4 hours every few months (as needed). Receptions take place on friday or saturday nights from 7pm-10pm
Interested applicants can submit a CV and brief paragraph of interest including availability by email. applications will be reviewed as they are received.

Volunteer Opportunity: Community Cultivated

The event is called Community Cultivated and its happening June 2nd. It is a silent auction art show with over 15 artists showing their work and 3 local Calgary indie bands taking the stage. A portion of the art sale will be donated to a local not for profit called, Studio C. We are looking for people who would be interested in volunteering 3-7 hours of their time to help this event take off. Positions are availaible in organizing set-up, decor, hosting, marketing and wrapping up at the end of the night. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain skills in marketing, public relations or events planning. Or simply for those that would like to use their talents to help out their local arts and music community. It is sure to be a fun night and volunteers will be provided with nourishment before and during the event. We can provide references as well for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers. The Magnetic North Theatre Festival wants you! Become a part of our energetic volunteer team and connect with other like-minded theatre lovers from across the country, while lending invaluable support to this exciting national celebration of contemporary Canadian theatre.
For 10 years now, The Magnetic North Theatre Festival has played an important role in the promotion and evolution of theatre in Canada. Like the Magnetic North Pole, the festival shifts location and travels around the country every other year, treating Canadians to excellence in English theatre from every corner of our great nation. This year’s Festival will take place in Calgary from June 13th to June 23rd, 2012. Festival organizers will be looking for 120 enthusiastic volunteers to make this one-of-a-kind showcase of national theatre a great success. Your time and energy will assist MNTF in operating this outstanding festival, while supporting some of Canada’s finest theatre artists.
VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

The Creative Airdrie Society is looking for two interns who are planning a career in arts management to assist in the planning and execution of the ARTember 2012 - a city-wide celebration of the arts in Airdrie Alberta.
Internships (unpaid) will commence July 3 and end October 3, 2012. Successful applicants will be able to handle the following tasks: social media and web content updates, liaising with the local business community, co-ordinating public art displays, workshops and special events, working with the Volunteer Director to recruit volunteers and assign roles and act as event managers onsite Sept 14-30. Hours July 3- August 30 - 20 hours per week, September 1 - Oct 3 30 hours per week
