Our vibrant cultural landscape is a source of pride for all Albertans; enhancing our quality of life and strengthening our local and provincial economies.
Culture Forum 2012 was held in Red Deer on Feb. 24 and 25 and involved nearly 400 representatives of Alberta's arts, heritage, multicultural, nonprofit/voluntary, creative industries and corporate sectors. Delegates heard from speakers and presenters; and participated in 18 concurrent workshops covering a variety of topics. A broad range of ideas, best practices and new innovations were discussed.

- Photos from the forum
- Videos from the Opening and Closing Ceremonies
- Videos from the discussions
The Government of Alberta is now asking the broader public for its help in charting a course for our province's cultural future. The online survey is available until March 28 and echoes the questions and topics that delegates of Culture Forum 2012 recently covered.
The Government of Alberta is working hard to enhance Albertans' quality of life. The information and feedback received through Culture Forum 2012 and the broader public survey will help government, the corporate community and the culture sector build a solid foundation for culture to prosper in our province.

Welcome to Artspoints, the unique rewards program that allows you to fill empty seats while developing sustained audiences for arts organizations such as yours.
Like other rewards programs, Artspoints members collect points through purchase activity and redeem them for rewards. Unlike other rewards programs, Artspoints uniquely offers redemptions exclusively in the exciting world of arts, culture and entertainment— rewards just like the offerings of your arts organization.
Whether visual, literary, performing, musical, experi- mental or any other arts genre, Artspoints will feature your products and services to an extended market of arts, and up-and-coming arts-interested, customers. Plus, through the partner network of Artspoints, rewards and merchandise can be bundled to create exclusive and premium experiences that go beyond the ordinary.
But, Artspoints is more than just a rewards program — Its goal is to ensure long-term sustainability of the arts and their vital and creative role in society. One of the keys to doing this is by offering an accessible way for wider audiences to experience the arts. To further reinforce this, Artspoints will partner with a roster of prestigious brands and sponsors — including a major financial institution — where members can accumulate points quickly and effectively, allowing them to occupy your empty seats sooner and more often!

Rozsa Foundation and the Haskayne School of Business: From Classroom to Boardroom
- Posted by Lindsay Bowman on January 23rd, 2012
This unique initiative includes an adaptation of a Board Governance seminar provided by the provincial Board Development Program, introducing students to best practices in non-profit governance. The course prepares the Haskayne graduates for board positions with Calgary arts organizations as facilitated by the Rozsa Foundation. Subsequent board development is also included. Most of the students involved in this pilot project have completed an arts and culture marketing course or participated in the Rozsa Foundation Marketing Audit special course.
"This program is the result of our long-term relationship with the Haskayne School of Business who has generously joined with us to champion the arts, and clearly is a leader in community engagement" says Mary Rozsa de Coquet, Foundation President.
All three organizations see this as a unique and timely opportunity to support and benefit Calgary’s arts community as Calgary celebrates being the Cultural Capital of Canada in 2012.
Background
The Rozsa Foundation The Rozsa (pronounced RO_ZAY) Foundation is celebrating its tenth anniversary of supporting arts administrators through its prestigious Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management. In addition to sponsoring the awards, the Foundation also provides a variety of opportunities for arts administrators to further develop their professional skills. This small family foundation believes that artistic expression is essential to the well-being of the individual and the community, and for this reason supports the enhancement of organizational capacity, development of individual talent, and provision of opportunities for community participation in the Arts.
The Haskayne School of Business
The Haskayne School of Business was founded at the University of Calgary in 1967, and was named in honor of Richard F. Haskayne, OC, AOE, FCA in 2002. The business school has approximately 3000 full- and part-time students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and executive education programs, and stays connected with its 20,000 alumni in 60 countries worldwide. The School’s vision is to be an internationally recognized centre of excellence for business education, research, and community outreach, with a special emphasis on the distinct elements that define Calgary and Alberta: energy, entrepreneurship, and ethical leadership.
Provided through the Government of Alberta’s Culture & Community Spirit, the Board Development Program is based on a curriculum that has been developed, tested and updated over the past 28 years. It is a unique program that provides no-fee assistance to not-for-profit boards through workshops, consultations, resource materials (print and web-based) and special presentations. Workshops are delivered by highly skilled and specially trained volunteer instructors. On-going community collaboration, with like-minded organizations and other not-for-profit partners, remains a key mandate.
